Lesson 70 - Polar Bear Mask

The children have been reading books about polar bears recently. Our tie-in with their classroom activity was to make a polar bear mask. We began by cutting down a small styrofoam cup to about 1 to 1,1/2 inch toward the bottom, then taking a medium sized paper plate, I used a glue gun to glue the cup hollow-side down on the back of the plate to create the bear's nose.


The children then separated cotton balls into smaller pieces and carefully glued them to the back of the paper plate and around the nose. They used black construction paper and positioned the eyes and the nose, and white construction paper ears were
glued and taped to the back of the plate. We completed the mask by adding white glitter and drawing a small "mouth" under the nose. The masks were adorable, and the children enjoyed making them.
