Because of Top Hat Montessori’s newly acquired chick hatching project, we had fun ‘hatching’ our own artful chicks in class today. We used medium sized styrofoam balls to make the chick’s body. We painted the balls bright yellow. After they dried, we added brightly colored feathers for the head, wings, and tail. Next we used hot glue to add on google eyes and a beak. Finally, we added pipe cleaner feet so our chicks would be able to stand.
All the children enjoyed hatching their baby chicks; which they were able to take home at the end of the day, and which turned out to be whimsical and absolutely adorable.
