Winter is upon us, and we wanted to pay tribute to the beautifully colorful winter sunsets by making our own version including a silhouette in the foreground.
The children began by taking brightly colored tissue paper, cutting it or ripping it into small sections, then gluing it on thick, multi-surface painting paper. This was our sunset background, bright and beautiful.
Next the children picked their silhouette to go in the foreground. Some children chose a winter tree, devoid of leaves, while other children wanted a living being in their picture, so they chose to have a cat as their silhouette. We cut these out of dark colored construction paper. The trees were brown, while the cats were either black, brown or purple. This was glued onto the top and foreground, making the most out of the beautiful tissue paper sunset the children created. The whole look of the art piece is very very pretty.
