Lesson 20 - Thanksgiving Turkey Craft
The Thanksgiving holiday is upon us, so today we are working on our Thanksgiving turkey craft.
The fun fact of this craft is that the body of the turkey is actually made up entirely of the children’s footprints and hand prints.
To begin, we traced each child’s hand prints on multiple colored construction paper. We used red, yellow and orange. This will be the turkey’s feathers. Next, we traced the footprints of each child, and used this as the body of the turkey. The heel part was the head, and the “toe” part was the belly of the turkey. The children glued both footprints together for the body. Next they glued the “feathers” on the back of the body.
The next thing to be glued on is the turkey’s wattle, the red skin under the beak. We also have an orange beak, which is glued on top of the wattle.
The children next drew on the eyes using white out and a marker or pencil. Once this was done, the turkey was set aside to dry.
The children had fun creating their Thanksgiving turkeys.
